August Summary

Image
August began seasonal and continued seasonal as temperatures hovered near average for the first three weeks before a late month warm spell pushed the monthly temperature firmly above average. A mini heat wave occurred during the 26th-28th and consisted of daily maximum temperatures at or above 90 degrees. The heat and humidity were a shock to the system. Maximum temperatures held in the upper 70s and lower 80s for most of the month. 14 of the first 25 days recorded maximum temperatures in the 70s. The Waste Water Treatment plant recorded 8 days with measureable precipitation. The majority of these events concentrated the precipitation in Northern Wisconsin, locations such as Rhinelander, Marinette, and northern Door County. Oshkosh missed out on the soaking rains and the month sits over an inch below average as of August 29th. Even with the lack of moisture in July and August, Winnebago County remains off the drought monitor. OSNW3 August 2013 Daily Observations (click on graph
