April Begins With Record Warmth
Since Mar 21, here at OSNW3, March 2010 moved up the ladder two spots to finish as the 10th all-time warmest March on record. See complete rankings here. We stayed put in the precip/snow category as nothing fell since Mar 21. While the days moved from March to April the temperatures sky rocketed with the max temp on Apr 2 reaching 83.4 at OSNW3 breaking the all-time max temp record for Oshkosh that day by more than 4 degrees. The following day on Apr 3 the max temp rose to 76.7 at OSNW3 nearly tying the record of 77 for that day. Complete daily records for Oshkosh can be found here. Looking ahead the HPC has a relatively large QPF for our area this week. We may even hear a rumble of thunder.

New CoCoRaHS Station
I'd like to welcome the latest CoCoRaHS station in Brown County, Wisconsin to the network. WI-BN-6 is now up and recording. My Mother has joined and is excited to participate. She has already entered two observations. Welcome to the team, Mom! This area has a few weather related nicknames and as time moves forward and data becomes archived I'll be able to prove them out.

Front Of House
The grass is greening up along with the flowers, trees, and bushes all starting to bud. Spring is certainly in the air.

The 80's? My, my what is going on out there! We've had two systems come through here over the last 5 days leaving snow in the higher elevations and rain at our level - we will need it later this summer.
ReplyDeleteMarch here was warmer and wetter see my post.
Cool post, yeah your grass has really greened up! I see in that one picture you have one odd type of Tuilps, and Hyaciths! very nice!
ReplyDeleteI'll bet you guys were cookin up there! What a way to start spring. It's been the same down here. Our max temp so far has been only slightly higher than what you experienced. Have you been getting wind like we have?? The past 7 days have been consistently gusty.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to your mom! Welcome to the team!!
Bob, great photos in your post. Our weather was similar in many ways during March. Now that's odd. Our state has some major drought happening in the northwestern region.
ReplyDeleteDerek, thank you. The grass around here has greened up. It's pretty nice and Spring feverish. I will admit I have no idea what type the flowers are... that's your specialty. If you say they are odd, I trust you.
WxWatcher, unfortunately I wasn't here to expierence the 80+ degree day. I was in Savannah, GA yet, getting my heat handed to me on a platter. Mid 80's with blazing sun most of my time there. Perfect beach weather but sadly I was hanging out in a paper plant most of each day. We had wind this past Friday, and the Friday before that, but for the most part, no we have not had much wind. My mom is hyped, especially today, as it has been pouring up there the past couple hours.
OSNW3, Northwest WI has suffered from drought for quite a while now hasn't it? I seem to remember seeing some color up there every time I check the NWS page.
ReplyDeleteWxWatcher, yes. It's been a couple years now. You could search Nathan's blog to actually see how long it's been. I know he documented it quite a bit and very well.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoy your blog. Thanks for keeping it going. I'm going to post a link to it on my site (oshkoshbeer.blogspot.com). I voted for Hardy too. Damn!
ReplyDeleteLee, I love beer. Thanks for commenting, reading, and letting me know of your blog. I hadn't stumbled upon it yet. Exciting! Looks like I have a lot of reading to catch up on!
